RETTmobil 2026 Focuses on Practical Knowledge Transfer

RETTmobil International 2026 once again places its content focus on a comprehensive and practice-oriented training program aimed at professionals from emergency medical services, fire brigades, and civil protection. From May 6 to 8, 2026, the international leading trade fair in Fulda will thus not only serve as a central meeting point for the industry, but also as an important hub for knowledge transfer, professional development, and interdisciplinary exchange.

In the field of medical and emergency service training, current and challenging operational scenarios are at the forefront. Topics include life-threatening situations such as hostage-taking or explosive devices, the identification of previously undetected injuries such as stab wounds or polytrauma, as well as cooperation between the German Armed Forces and emergency services against the backdrop of global crises and changing security conditions. Further focal points include new resuscitation guidelines, including special operational situations such as trauma, pregnancy, or hypothermia, modern invasive emergency techniques such as REBOA or eCLS, as well as air rescue and cooperation between air- and ground-based emergency services, with particular attention to interfaces and human factors.

The RETTmobil 2026 workshops deepen selected topics in a practical and interactive manner. These include, among others, airway management, basic emergency ultrasound (POCUS) for trauma patients as well as cardiac and pulmonary applications, communication strategies in challenging operational situations, and training to enhance personal operational safety. Additional topics include the supraglottic airway device LT®evo in theory and practice, measures for bleeding control in humans, and the special K9 bleeding control program for the care of injured service and rescue dogs.

Practical workshops play a particularly important role and are conducted in cooperation with the Fulda Fire Brigade, Malteser Fulda, and the LUKAS Rescue League. For the fire service, the focus includes the assessment of battery-electric vehicles, the safe handling of heavy loads using pneumatic lifting bags, and hands-on training with modern rescue equipment for efficient patient extrication. Emergency medical services will focus on trauma care based on international standards, internal incident coordination with an emphasis on communication, initial care, and workflows, as well as airway management in confined or difficult-access situations. Joint training sessions involving fire and rescue services will simulate complex incident scenarios under realistic conditions.

The patronage of RETTmobil 2026 has been assumed by Knut Fleckenstein, Federal Chairman of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB). He emphasizes the importance of the trade fair as a central meeting point for emergency response organizations and at the same time highlights the growing challenges in civil protection and disaster management, as well as the need for continuous professional training.

The 24th RETTmobil International also sees itself as a meeting point for the international emergency response community, reflecting the global operational landscape in its full professional breadth. Demand from exhibitors from across Europe and internationally is once again very high, with exhibition halls and outdoor areas already fully booked. Alongside numerous exhibitors from the emergency services sector, renowned vehicle manufacturers such as Daimler Truck, MAN, VW, Mercedes-Benz, and INEOS will present their products. Manufacturers of fire-fighting vehicle bodies, including Junghans Fahrzeugbau, Walser, and Hensel Fahrzeugbau, will also be represented.

Representatives of all major aid organizations will once again come together at the so-called “Elephant Meeting” to deepen exchange within the emergency services community. “RETTmobil 2026 once again promises to become the heartbeat center of the emergency response community,” Hommel says with confidence.
